Sarah Eve Virginia Sweetspire is draped in stunning racemes of fragrant white flowers with pink overtones at the ends of the branches in early summer. It has dark green foliage with hints of purple. The narrow leaves turn outstanding shades of burgundy, orange and gold in the fall. The smooth brown bark and dark red branches add an interesting dimension to the landscape.

This shrub performs well in both full sun and full shade. It is an amazingly adaptable plant, tolerating both dry conditions and even some standing water. It is not particular as to soil type or pH. It is somewhat tolerant of urban pollution. This is a selection of a native North American species.
